The hero of celine's novels has appeared in a time when there was a crisis of the meaning, understood as a direction and a meaning given to a man's life. Being under the crisis of values after the first world war, and after appearing as a prophet and an atoning victim, the different heroes in celine's novels have nothing to do with heroism. Space, time, relationship and guilt are the foundations of the connection between celine's hero and the meaning. Their analysis enables to make appear a representation of man's life centred on the topic of the fall, which is an indication of guilt and death's fear. Man of the past, the hero of celine's novels shows, as in his social and ideological representations than in his look on history, the essential of the world's romantic vision. Considering himself as a special case in a racial, social and stylistic point of view, condamned to be ununderstood by everybody to become a scapegoat, he hates the materialistic society surrounding him, he condamns a mankind with no ideal, and works on the language's ressources to reenchant the world. If lampoon's writing has been an occasion to overpass celine's pessimism, after the world war two, when he has been desappointed by the defeat of biological racism's mystic, the writing, the ennemy of the face to reality and the means to help hate's propagation is only able to note the impossibility to make sens in a world dominated by fencing.

Le héros romanesque célinien a vu le jour à une époque ou régnait une crise du sens, entendu comme direction et signification données a une vie d'homme. Subissant la crise des valeurs de l'entre-deux guerres, puis prenant les traits du prophète et de la victime expiatoire, les différents héros céliniens sont dénués de tout héroïsme. Espace, temps, relation à autrui et culpabilité constituent autant de fondements du rapport qu'entretient avec le sens le héros célinien. Leur analyse permet de dégager une représentation du monde axée autour du thème de la chute, indice de culpabilité et de peur du devenir, d'angoisse de la mort. Homme du passé, le héros célinien reprend tant dans ses représentations sociales et idéologiques que son regard sur l'histoire, l'essentiel de la vision romantique du monde. S'affirmant comme un être a part d'un point de vue racial, social et stylistique, condamne à être incompris de tous et a devenir un bouc émissaire, il hait la société matérialiste qui l'entoure, condamne une humanité dépourvue d'idéal et puise dans les ressources de la langue pour réenchanter le monde. Si la pratique pamphlétaire a pu être l'occasion d'un dépassement du pessimisme célinien, une fois déçue après-guerre par la mystique du racisme biologique, l'écriture, ennemie de la confrontation a la sacro-sainte expérience et moyen de faire circuler la haine, ne peut constater que l'impossibilité de faire sens dans un univers domine par la clôture.
