Abstract EN:

The study of woman through the important steps of her life, in certain "scenes of private life" (between one thousand, eight hundred and thirty - thirty two) ; this study shows double attitude, taken by balzac towards woman, an explicite as well as an implicite attitudes. The first one invites the feminine character to sacrifice for society, while the second on the contrary of woman nature, constitutes an encouraging factor to revolt against society which sacrifices the woman for the benefit of society. The principal cause of the ambiguous attitude of balzac might be explained of the permanant conflict existing between the inactive role of the wise man, and destructive passion. The inactive role of the wise represents the duration, the rest, economy in vital forces, all of which preserve the life of the individual. Thus, the society which has the objective of continuity detain the rush of individual against passion, by applying this rule for saveguarding and preserving the vital fluidity. The destructive passion represents the passion, the active thinking, the movement, all of which dispense with the vital fluidity existing in every body; it is the force which pushes the individual to revolt against social rules, to live his full life and to be finally used up : it is the creative force. Man, according to balzac, is constantly subject to conflict between these two scopes of life that are completely contradictory, because it is impossible to select the way of living which should be exactly in the midst; that is why the balzacian character is divided into two forms : passive character and the revolutionary character.

Abstract FR:

L'etude de la femme a travers les etapes importantes de sa vie dans quelques scenes de la vie privee de balzac (mille-huit-centtrente trente deux), montre une double attitude de balzac vis a vis de la femme, une attitude explicite et une attitude implicite. La premiere invite l'individualite feminine a se sacrifier a la societe, la seconde constituerait au contraire pour la femme un encouragement a la revolte contre les lois sociales, qui sacrifient la femme au profit de la societe. La principale cause de cette attitude ambigue de balzac peut-etre expliquee par le conflit permanent existant entre le repos du sage et la passion destructrice. Le repos du sage represente la duree, le repos, l'economie des forces vitales, qui preserve la vie de l'individu. Ainsi, la societe qui a pour but la continuation, freine l'elan des individus vers la passion, par l'intermediaire de ses lois pour les sauvegarder en preservant leur "fluide vital". La passion destructrice represente la passion, la pensee active, le mouvement, tout ce qui peut depenser le fluide vital dont chaque homme est dote, c'est la force qui pousse l'individu a se revolter contre les lois sociales, a vivre pleinement sa vie, et a s'user : c'est la force creatrice. L'homme, selon balzac, est constamment tiraille entre ces deux manieres d'envisager la vie qui sont completement opposees parce qu'il lui est impossible de choisir une maniere de vivre qui soit le juste milieu, voila pourquoi les personnages balzaciens sont divises en deux, les soumis et les revoltes.
