Le système du personnage de Berenger dans l'oeuvre dramatique d'Eugène Ionesco

The principal aim of the present work is to study the techniques (descriptive and narrative) through which ionesco created his characters. Through a research into the system relating berenger's character the thesis shows that the essential technique of ionesco in creating the character consists in establishing a methode of functionnal oppositions through which the characters differ from each other. In ionesco's theatre it is not a matter of a total lack of characters but of a new restatement of the character under the form of defiance to the classical coherence "being doing" of the character. It is not either a matter of excluding the principal character but of an other way to emphasize its importance.

Le present travail a pour tache principale d'etudier les procedes (descriptifs et narratifs) par lesquels ionesco a cree ses personnages. A travers une recherche du systeme du personnage de berenger, la these montre que la technique essentielle de ionesco dans la production du personnage consiste a etablir un systeme d'oppositions fonctionnelles dans lequel les personnages se differencient les uns des autres. Il ne s'agit pas, dans le theatre de ionesco, d'une depersonnalisation totale, mais d'une nouvelle mise au point du personnage sous forme de defi a la coherence classique "etre faire" du personnage. Il ne s'agit pas non plus de l'exclusion du personnage principal, mais d'un autre mode de mise en valeur de ce dernier.
