Consequently the ambiguousiness of interpretation acknowledged by literary criticism concerning prevost's roman, manon lescaut, we carried out accurately our research into the main features of writing able to help the strategy of argumentation concerning the discursive reasoning and that we have taken into account as emblematic of vagueness aesthetics. The pro domo plea merit of retrospective story leads actually and necessarily to examine the art and artifice by which the author /narrator succeeds in diluting a responsibility which, taking into account the committed misdemeanours should seem without appeal. So the researchs have been carried out on the facts of language the most recurrent and sometimes the most tenuous, signature of an author aware of the power of words. The examination of various editions as well as the index of vocabulary at our disposal allowed to confirm what a cursory reading could lead us to suppose. The analysis have been chiefly carried out in the light of theories of guillaume's inspiration whose main interest is to go further back to the very fondations of the thought and to give a meaning to the tiniest variations of the language, to the slightest options of the author. So this micro-reading applied to the prevost's text has, as main aim, to find out through the syntax' maze and generally speaking through the noteworthy display of some linguistic tools the hesitations' marks on which is based the reasoning's efficiency. In fine, it is a matter of lifting the veil from the mystery of a language of which one has continually through the centuries praised for the ingenuity.

Abstract FR:

Partant de l'ambiguite d'interpretation que la critique unanime reconnait au roman de prevost, manon lescaut, nous avons oriente precisement la recherche sur les principales caracteristiques d'ecriture capables de servir la strategie argumentative du discours et que nous avons considerees comme emblematiques d'une esthetique du flou. En effet, la valeur de plaidoyer pro domo du recit retrospectif conduit necessairement a examiner avec quel art et artifice le narrateur/auteur parvient a diluer une responsabilite qui au regard des fautes commises devrait apparaitre sans appel. Ce sont donc sur les faits de langue les plus recurrents et parfois les plus tenus, griffe d'un auteur conscient du pouvoir des mots, que les investigations ont ete menees. L'examen des variantes des diverses editions ainsi que l'index du vocabulaire a notre disposition ont permis de confirmer ce qu'une lecture cursive pouvait laisser supposer. Les analyses ont ete conduites principalement a la lumiere des theories d'inspiration guillaumienne dont l'interet essentiel est de remonter aux fondements memes de la pensee et de donner du sens aux variations les plus infimes de la langue, aux moindres options de l'auteur. Cette micro-lecture a laquelle a ete soumis le texte de prevost a donc pour ambition premiere de debusquer a travers les dedales de la syntaxe et d'une facon generale a travers le deploiement remarquable de certains outils linguistiques les marques d'hesitations sur lesquelles repose l'efficacite du discours. In fine, il s'agit de lever quelque peu le voile sur le mystere d'une langue dont on a cesse, a travers les siecles, de louer l'ingeniosite.
