The genesis of the penultimate book of La Recherche consists in the interlacing of themes, motifs, reflections upon the romantic form and aesthetic, outlined before 1914. In the history in progress of Albertine, Proust tries to reevaluate and put together elements conceived at different moments and coming from heterogeneous contexts. By its "composite" nature, this book, witness of Proust's long creative experience, is the occasion for the transformation of la fugitive, established according to the manuscript, into Albertine disparue, according to the dactylography reviewed by the author. The destiny of this book fading after the writing of the last manuscript, in favor of the considerable growth of its partner-narration, La Prisonniere, puts in light the metamorphosis of the creative energy in expansion which has been increasingly propagating in La Recherche.

La genèse de l'avant-dernier volume de La Recherche consiste en un entrecroisement complexe de thèmes, motifs, réflexions sur la forme et l'esthétique romanesques, esquissés avant 1914. Dans l'histoire d'Albertine en chantier, Proust les éprouve et s'essaie à fondre des éléments conçus à des moments différents et issus de contextes hétérogènes. Ce livre "composite", témoin de la longue expérience créatrice de Proust, est le lieu de la transformation de la fugitive, établie d'après le manuscrit au net, en Albertine disparue, d'après la dactylographie originale corrigée par l'auteur. Son destin en éclipse en faveur du mûrissement considérable de son récit-partenaire, La Prisonnière, à partir de la mise au net, nous semble être une métamorphose éclairante de l'énergie créatrice en plein essor qui s'est sans cesse propagée dans la recherche.
