The matter of this thesis is the french novel between 1670 and 1730. Il tries to elaborate an abstract model which could account for the novel of the enlightenment. This model is based on two hermeneutical mechanisme. One is drawn from the novel by cervantes, don quixote. The other from the analysis of the myths (the"fable") made by the sholars at the end of the seventeent century. The first half of the half of the thesis is devoted to the description of these two mechanisms : the first is seen through 3 parodical novels by marivaux, the second through theretical texts and their novelistic transpositions. The 2nd second hald of the thesis tries to scrutiniz how these two mechanisms interfere in a wide range of critical novels : the utopian novel, the allegorical novel, the citationnal novel, the novel of worldiness, the fairy tales.

Ce travail porte sur le roman francais entre 1670 et 1730. Il en propose un modele qui serait capable de rendre compte du roman des lumieres. Ce modele est defini par l' interference de deux dispositifs hermeneutiques analoguies. Le premier est defini a partir du roman de cervantes, don quichotte. Le second a partir des analyses de la mythologie (la "fable") faits a la fin du 17e siecle. La premiere partie presente chacun de ces deux disposotifs. Le premier est reconstitue a partir des trois romans paradiques ecrits par marivaux (1713-15) : le second a partir de textes theoriques et de leurs transpositions dans le roman. La deuxieme partie examine les types de roman critique qui mettent en oeuvre ces deux dispositifs : roman utopique, roman allegorique, roman-citation, roman du ramancier, roman-montage, roman de la mondanite, contes de fees.
