The chief iterators analysed in this research work are "again", "encore", "deja", "always", "toujours", "jamais", and particularly the operator "ever". Within the scope of the metaoperational theory, our goal is to explain the linguistic phenomena observed in contemporary english and french. Three centres of interest are prominent : the operational weight inherent in each iterator, the workings of each iterator in context, as well as the sense effects arising from the combination of those two factors.

Les principaux iterateurs analyses dans le present travail sont "again", "encore", "deja", "always", "toujours", "jamais", et surtout l'operateur "ever". Dans le cadre de la metaoperation, notre but est d'expliquer les phenomenes linguistiques constates en anglais et en francais contemporains. Trois centres d'interet dominent : la charge operationnelle inherente a chaque iterateur, le fonctionnement de chaque iterateur en contexte, ainsi que les effets de sens induits par la combinaison de ces deux facteurs.
