This study has tried to throw light on the interaction between journal and fiction in the work of andre gide. It has so begun by concentrating on the preparatory journal and the fictional journal. Since the genesis of les cahiers d andre walter. The hero-writer keeping his diary is seen on the foundations of the novel in gestation. As matrix,the preparatory journal develops the hero's voice.
