Les operations metalinguistiques dans les traductions commentees de l'ancien hebreu; exemplifiees par les commentaires du livre de qoheleth

A function of natural language is the capacity of speaking not alone about the extralinguistic world, but also about linguistic topics. This function is based on the metalinguistic capacity of natural language and each usage of this metalinguistic capacity constitutes a metalinguistic operation. The activity of translation consists of a complex and interactive meshing of these metalinguistic operations. The explanatory notes of the commentated translations furnish us the possibility of studying and analysing the metalinguistic operations applied in the course of the translation. Among the commentated translations we have chosen as corpus the translations and the exegetical commentaries of the book of qoheleth, which was written in ancient hebrew. Using these commentaries we have undertaken an analysis and classification of the metalinguistic operations used in the translations. After a fundamental treatment of metalinguistics and the metatheory of translation we examined the chosen commentaries according to the following classifications: the usage of autonymes, the definition as translation, the usage of etymologies in the translation, cultural and contextuel aspects of translations, the references to other ancient translations, and the metarhetoric.

Une fonction du langage naturel est la capacite de non seulement du monde extralinguistique, mais aussi des sujets linguistiques. Cette fonction est basee sur la capacite metalinguistique du langage naturel et chaque utilisation de cette capacite metalinguistique constitue une operation metalinguistique. L'activite de la traduction consiste en une mise ensemble complexe et interactive de ces operations metalinguistiques. Les notes explicatifs des traductions commentees nous fournissent la possibilite d'etudier et d'analyser les operations metalinguistiques utilisees au cour de la traduction. Parmi les traductions commentees nous avons choisi comme corpus les traductions et commentaires exetetiques du livre de qoheleth, ecrit en hebreu ancien. A partir de ces commentaires nous avons entrepris une analyse et une classification des operations metalinguistiques utilisees dans la traduction. Apres une discussion de base en ce qui concerne la metalinguistique et la metatheorie de la traduction, nous avons examine les commentaires selon les classifications suivantes: l'usage autonymique, la traduction comme definition, l'usage de l'etymologie dans la traduction, la traduction culturelle et contextuelle, les references aux traductions anciennes, et la metarhetorique.
