The study of childhood evocations, of amourous feelings and of social and political life throughout Hector Malot's fiction works, consisting of over sixty novels and short stories, places those works in relation to the philosophical traditions inherited from the eighteenth century, and to the nineteenth century positvist trend of thought. The art of novelist Hector Malot was influenced by the developpement of serialized publication and by the emergence of the naturalist movement.

L'étude des représentations de l'enfance, des sentiments amoureux et de la vie politique et sociale dans l'œuvre romanesque d’Hector Malot situe cette œuvre, constituée de plus de soixante romans et nouvelles, par rapport aux traditions philosophiques héritées du dix-huitième siècle et à la pensée positiviste du dix-neuvième siècle. L'art du romancier Hector Malot est influencé par le développement de la publication en feuilleton et par l'émergence du mouvement naturaliste.
