The aim of this thesis is the study of the relative pronouns system in English. Its first part deals with the relative pronouns, from the point of view of traditional grammar, structural and transformational ones. Then, the basis of the analysis used was exposed in the second chapter. The last part presents the study of the relative pronouns: wh-ever, wh (o) (ich) (at), that and but, at the tongue level, in which one value is found, as well as at the discourse level, in which the surface and various uses of each pronoun are related to its unique value.

L'objet de cette thèse est l'étude des pronoms relatifs en anglais dans une perspective psychosystématique. Elle comprend donc une partie sur les études antérieures concernant les relatifs. Puis les fondements de l'analyse adoptés tout long de ce travail. La deuxième partie propose une théorie de représentation des pronoms relatifs en wh, en that et en but. Le dernier chapitre présente leurs comportements en discours, en tenant compte de leur valeur de langue.
