The starting point of this research is the constitution of creole martinican plant inventory, non-existent so far. After diachronic study of plant names, the writer analyses the various classifying modes wich structure them. Then, through metaphors and symbols, she bring out underlying semanticle patterns, with the background of plant naming system. Eventually, the fina part is devoted to the metaphorical use of plant names in martinican discourse.

Le point de depart de cette these est la constitution d'une phytonymie du creole martiniquais, inexistante jusque la. L'auteur, apres une etude en diachronie de ces noms de plantes, analyse les differents modes de classification qui les structurent. Puis, a travers metaphores et symboles, elle met en lumiere les modeles semantiques qui sous-tendent la nomination des plantes en creole martiniquais. Enfin, la derniere partie est consacree a une rapide etude des emplois metaphoriques des noms de plantes dans le discours martiniquais en general.
