Les Sini : hymne et épopée des Bobo (Burkina Faso) : essai d'ethnolinguistique

This study is an essai of etholinguistic analysis of a type of bobo oral tradition : sini. Sini are chants performed by "griots" and black-smith in the honor of the main human components (lincage and age group) and spiritual components (divinities) of the village. The study aims at demonstrating that the sini kind, according to its semantic aspect, its functions, the importance of the transmitter group and the emission area, is revealing the social and mental structure of the bobos. Three convergent approches have been elaborated to reach this target : a linguistic, an ethologic and a literary approach. The first part deals with the presentation of the social-cultural context of the chants. This explains why the presentation of the language (phonology and morpho-syntax) is followed by an ethnological survey. Then, the exposition of the emission circumstances underlines the audience attitude. The second part focuses on the edition of the chants. Each chant is transcribed into bobo then a line-by-line translation and a literary translation followed. The literary translations are gathered at the end of this part so that the lines and stanzas are in evidence. The last part aims at being anaytical : it first proceed with a go-and-fro between the content of the chants and the social context.

L'etude est un essai d'analyse d'un genre de la tradition orale bobo : les sini. Il s'agit de chants executes par les griots et les forgerons en l'honneur des principales composantes humaines-lignages, classe d'age- et spirituel- les -divinites- du village. L'etude se propose de demontrer que le genre sini de part son semantisme, ses fonctions, l'importance du groupe emetteur et des lieux d'emission, est revelateur de la structure sociale et mentale des bobo. Trois approches convergentes ont ete mises en oeuvre pour atteindre cet objec- tif : linguistique, ethnologique et litteraire. La premiere partie est consacree a la presentation du contexte socio-culturel des chants. C'est pourquoi la presentation de la langue- phonologie, morpho-syntaxe- est suivie d'un apercu etnologique. Enfin, l'expose des circonstances d'emission met en evidence les attitudes de l'auditoire. La seconde partie porte sur l'edition des chants. Chaque chant est transcrit en bobo suivi d'une traduction juxtalineaire et d'une traduction litteraire. A la fin de cette partie, la traduction litterai- re est regroupee afin de mettre en evidence les vers et les strophes. La der- niere partie se veut analythique : elle procede d'abord par un va-et-vient entre le contenu des chants et le contexte social. Ensuite, l'analyse stylis- tique met a jour les procedes esthetiques utilises a des fins emotives. Enfin l'analyse des chants fait apparaitre que le genre sini assume des fonctions pedagogiques et politiques.
