Du journaliste à l'écrivain, le reportage comme inspiration dans la création romanesque de Joseph Kessel

Joseph Kessel was no only a prolific novelist, but therefore is particularly a marked figures of the tall french reporting, years 1920 to 1950. It is interesting to remark, when the one interests in his work, what many romanesque texts seem be strongly inspired by his trade of journalist. This study propose then to prove the tie very narrow who exists between four effected reportings by Kessel (Ireland, 1920 ; Red Sea, 1930 ; Kenya, 1953-1954 ; Afghanistan , 1956) and narrations that they have inspired him (Mary of Cork, Squared fortune, The Lion, Riders). Analysing accurately different stoppings places of kesselian romanesque creation, after to admit the item of reporting as "raw material" of this creation, we will show how Kessel himself is served of his clean experience of the world to create landscapes, situations and personages. Of numerous unpublished elements (texts, interviews, photographies) will come to ornament this work of searches and will contribute to his pertinence - everything in briging him an interest no negligible in the eyes of all fascinated persons by the work and the charisma of Joseph Kessel.

Joseph Kessel fut non seulement un romancier prolifique, mais aussi une des figures marquantes du grand reportage français, des années 1920 à 1950. Il est intéressant de remarquer, lorsque l'on s'intéresse à son oeuvre, que beaucoup de textes romanesques semblent avoir été fortement inspirés par son métier de journaliste. Cette étude se propose donc de prouver le lien très étroit qui existe entre quatre reportages effectués par Kessel (Irlande, 1920 ; Mer rouge, 1930 ; Kenya, 1953-1954 ; Afghanistan, 1956) et les récits qu'ils lui ont inspiré (Mary de Cork, Fortune carrée, Le Lion, Les Cavaliers). En analysant avec précision les différentes étapes de la création romanesque kesselienne, aprés avoir admis l'article de reportage comme "matière première" de cette création, nous montrerons comment Kessel s'est servi de sa propre expérience du monde pour créer des paysages, des situations et mêmes des personnages. De nombreux éléments inédits (textes, interviews, photographies) viendront agrémenter ce travail de recherches et contribueront à sa pertinence - tout en lui apportant un intérêt non négligeable aux yeux de toutes les personnes fascinées par l'oeuvre et le charisme de Joseph Kessel.
