Romanian-born french poet gherasim luca at first engaged in dialogue with french surrealism. Because of the geographical, historical and cultural distance separating them from the french nucleus, luca's texts first developed a critical point of view on the movement's contradictions, on the tensions resulting from the claiming of conflicting literary an philosophical inheritances. Luca's early works culminated in a theory of exchange based on the submission of the object to the clashing desires of the community. The very text became a crossroads for subjective and competing comments, whose contradictions were not to be resolved : the surrealist community must be thought of in terms of polemical tensions. Such challengeful stand, questioning all certainties can also be defined in terms of utterance : luca's late poetry continually plays on the poet's voice as a divided locus, where meaning gives up its linear unfolding, replaced by a paradoxical rhythm. The dramatic dimension to luca's poetic experience enables the analysis of the inner distancing and makes compulsory the braking away from such definitions as make oral discourse an expression of physical well-being and fulfilment.

Le poete francais d'origine roumaine gherasim luca (1913-1994) engagea dans un premier temps un dialogue avec le surrealisme francais. Beneficiant de la distance geographique, historique et culturelle qui les separait du foyer parisien, ses premiers textes developperent une vision critique a l'egard des contradictions du mouvement, des tensions suscitees par la revendication d'heritages litteraires et philosophiques heterogenes. Les premieres recherches de luca culminent dans une theorie de l'echange fondee sur la soumission de l'objet aux desirs contradictoires de la communaute. Le texte devient des lors le carrefour de commentaires divergents dont les contradictions sont exhibees sans etre resolues. Une telle position intempestive mettant en cause toutes les certitudes peut egalement etre definie en terme d'enonciation : la recherche poetique ulterieure de luca ne cesse de jouer sur la voix comme instance divisee contraignant le sens a abandonner son cheminement lineaire au profit d'un rythme paradoxal. La dimension theatrale des recitals rend sensible cette distance interieure et oblige a abandonner les theories faisant de l'oralite l'expression directe du corps et de sa pretendue plenitude.
