Abstract EN:

Abstract FR:

Founded as a literary journal by pierre andre-may, at age twenty, intentions appeared regularly on a monthly basis from january 1922 through december 1924. Its focus was mainly literature and theater, although now and then it displayed pages of music and art criticism. Under the aegis of its director, p-andre-may, a staunch admirer of andre gide, jules romains, marcel proust and valery larbaud, it carried the battle of a "certain classicism" and would keep to this aesthetic agenda throughout, collecting such prestigious signatures as those of jules supervielle, paul morand, saint-john perse and valery larbaud. With the precious help of the latter it would bring out two special issues, the first of which was devoted to him, whilst the second to the young spanish writers. As the financial burden of running the journal grew too heavy to bear by the young founder. Intentions ceased to appear, shofing its talents at the steps of other important journals, which often held the same directorial line as did intentions.
