Abstract EN:

THE WHOLE OF PHILIPPE JACCOTTET'S WORK CAN BE CONSIDERED POETIC, WHETHER IT BE PROSE OR ACTUAL POETRY. THE BASES OF THIS INTERWEAVING WILL BE QUESTIONED: A WAY OF THINKING ABOUT THE WORLD AND THE CONCEPT OF THE POET AS A MAN WHO ACCEPTS THE FINITE NATURE OF HIS EXISTENCE without BEING WEIGHED DOWN BY A WORLD DOMINATED BY THE PRAGMATIC. WE SHALL EXAMINE THE RESULTING CONSTRAINTS ON THE ACT OF WRITING: THE REINTRODUCTION OF THE OBJECT TO WHICH THE DESCRIPTION REFERS BUT WHICH TRANSCENDS ITS OWN DESCRIPTION, THEREBY GIVING RENEWED SUBSTANCE TO THE FORM (RESTORING POWER TO WORDS, THE USE OF FIGURES OF SPEECH, THE LAY-OUT); A CONSIDERATION OF THE WAYS IN WHICH IT MIGHT STILL BE POSSIBLE FOR THESE FUNDAMENTAL ACTS OF POETIC CREATION TO CREATE AN IMAGE BASED ON A VIEW OF THE WORLD WHICH IS ITSELF THE PRODUCT OF VISUAL PERCEPTION, FOR THESE POETIC ACTS TO TAKE ON THE HERMENEUTIC ROLE WHICH DEVOLVES TO WRITING. LIKE THE WORLD ITSELF, A WEB OF MEANINGFUL PLACES AND VOID, THE WORK IS, OF NECESSITY, HETEROGENEOUS: THIS INTERWEAVING IN THE WRITINGS RENDERS VISIBLE ONCE MORE WHAT IS PRODUCED IN THE TRANSLATION FROM WHAT CAN BE SEEN TO WHAT CAN BE READ. THE HOMOLOGOUS NATURE OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TEXTURE OF THE WORK AND THE TEXTURE OF THE WORLD LEADS ON TO THE PROBLEMATICS OF INTERTEXTURE within THE WORK OF JACCOTTET ITSELF WHICH CAN AT THE SAME TIME BE EXTENDED TO LITERATURE AS A WHOLE: TEXTUAL SPACES WHERE, IN ITS WANDERINGS, WRITING OCCASIONALLY FINDS A BRIEF STOPPING PLACE WHENCE IT CAN REASSURE ITS VALIDITY.

Abstract FR:

L'oeuvre de philippe jaccottet est apprehendee comme poetique dans sa globalite: prose et poesie melees. On interroge les fondements de ce metissage: une pensee du monde et une conception du poete comme homme assumant sa finitude sans s'y abandonner dans un monde voue a la vie pragmatique. On examine les contraintes d'ecriture qui en decoulent: reintroduction du referent qui postule la description mais aussi son depassement en une + redescription ; qui rehabilite le travail de la forme (nomination, figuration, typographismes); interrogation sur les possibilites qu'ont encore ces actes poetiques fondamentaux de donner figure a la vision du monde qui s'elabore sur la perception du visible, sur leurs capacites a assumer la fonction hermeneutique devolue a l'ecriture. Tissee de lieux et de non-lieux a l'image du monde, l'oeuvre est necessairement heterogene: le metissage de l'ecriture restitue a la visibilite le produit de la + traduction ; du visible en lisible. La relation d'homologie entre texture de l'oeuvre et texture du monde debouche sur une problematique de l'intertextualite interne a l'oeuvre de jaccottet et extensible a la litterature: espaces textuels ou l'ecriture dans son errance trouve ponctuellement des + lieux ; ou se reassurer.
