This dissertation develops a semiological method for film analysis from a multidisciplinary point of view : its first stage involves looking into the various existing approaches to film semiology as well as into the main areas of film theory and analysis involving or not semiology (sociology, aesthetics, and film history). The various approaches investigated are constructed as complementary. This involves a specific and relevant selection of operating concepts, followed by their integration into a semiological modeling of innovative film. The following stage confronts this model to the reality of a given film corpus. The starting point here is a generally shared and acknowledged opinion on French contemporary film (hereafter "the doxa"). A corpus of recent French films of various types is devised , using criteria developed by film professionals. (. . . )

Cette thèse propose une méthode sémiologique d'analyse du film dans une ouverture pluridisciplinaire : une recherche des différentes approches en sémiologie du cinéma et des principaux domaines de théorisation et d'analyse du film avec et en dehors de la sémiologie (la sociologie, l'esthétique et l'histoire du cinéma) constitue la première étape. Les différentes approches sont mises en complémentarité. Cela se caractérise par une sélection précise et pertinente des concepts opératoires puis par leur intégration dans un modèle sémiologique du film innovant. L'étape suivante confronte le modèle à la réalité d'un corpus. L'ange de recherche part d'une opinion sur le cinéma français et actuel communément partagée et admise (doxa). Suivant les critères des professionnels un corpus de films français récents et traversant les différents genres est constitué. (. . . )
