Flaubert has written this book taking in account Sainte-Beuve’s objections against his Salammbô (1862). In his Education, Flaubert returned to the middle-class of persons and to the ordinary reality, as he did in Madam Bovary (1857). He relates sentimental life of Frédéric Moreau relating to a representation of mores and 1848’s historical events. The novel was complex in subject and his perspectives were so large. The publication of the book has flown a lot of ink criticizing it so hardly, because the journalists had thought that it wasn’t a romance and the novelist has composed pictures extracted from the strict middle and common life without dramatic interest. Our research starts by talking about the reasons of theirs attacks and demandings. Then, we analyse the points of view asserting a positivist manner of approaching literature, and so we speak about a “scientific” tendency’s receptions. The critic university having given specific parameters of exam, has developed her characteristic appreciations and behavioural practice usually done by their representatives. Flaubert’s book has been perceived in a better way depending on a biographic and historical approach, has been declared as a critical and scientific study, or as mirror of the human truth. In the end, we determinate writers opinions, being refer to Flaubert’s image and art. The diagnostic of receptions aim to construct the hypotheses of lectures clarifying senses. This book has been in head of his immediately reception and has been favourably evaluated in the future.

Flaubert a écrit L’Éducation sentimentale en tenant compte des reproches de Sainte-Beuve dans sa critique de Salammbô (1862). Avec L’Éducation qui parut le 17 novembre 1869, Flaubert revint à la réalité contemporaine et bourgeoise, triste et monotone, qu’il a exprimée dans Madame Bovary (1857). L’Éducation, c’est l’histoire sentimentale de Frédéric Moreau sur un fond d’examen des moeurs sociales pendant le développement des événements de 48. Le dessein de l’écrivain fut très complexe et ses perspectives larges. Le dernier aspect de notre étude est réservé à l’examen de la réception des écrivains, et nous parlons de la critique des créateurs dont les visions évoluent selon leurs appartenances et « l’image » qu’ils ont de Flaubert. Notre étude dégage un ensemble de réflexions et éclaircit quantité de malentendus, en construisant des hypothèses de lecture qui éclairent le sens d’une oeuvre très complexe et en avance sur son temps.
