André Pieyre de Mandiargues (1909-1991) particularly likes the play when it means "being transported further by the play of the thought and the language". This work explores this "further" to explain its extreme and esoteric extent. This sovereign power of imagination hedges between rules and transgressions that build the poetical play. Because being a poet, this is the intention of the bringing into play for APM's writing in search of a language that allows a "luxurious proliferation of the language". The relationship between play and poetry is studied in the corpus of his narrative works that are or are similar to novels. These works are strongly rooted in the mimicry and the ilinx, categories of the play defined by Caillois, they open up to the poet baroque imagination : masks, theater, dreams, echoes and mirrors, the darkest erotism, myths and the sacred, symbols and alchemy compose a puzzle which, assembled, reveals the marvel of the poetic Magnum Opus.
