The edition of the first part of the manuscript of the "chronique d'un anonyme de bethune" (chronicle of an anonymous author from bethune) is one of the earlier historic texts written in french. The part of which the author was not himself a contemporary is an adaptation of guillaume de jumieges'latin chronicle. It relates the history of the dukes of normandy and the kings of england, since the vikings accosted in normandy and normandy was given to rollon in 911 up to reign of "jean sans terre" (john lackland) in 1205. From the linguistic study of the text, we can infer that the author was living in picardy, and in spite of the efforts he makes not to be implicated in his account, we can conclude out of his historic choices that he was belonging to the court of "robert de bethune". Related with nearly thirty thousands words an made out with a personal computer, the vocabulary statistics can be considered as a reference work. It underlines the stylistic values characterising the historic chronicle concerned by the actions of the leaders of a dynasty.
