The anglo-norman poem was written towards the end of the twelfth or the beginning of the thirteenth century. It was elaborated by an anonymous author on material taken from the vulgate version of the bible, and mainly from flavius josephus's antiquitates judaicae. The translation is interspersed with numerous moralizing comments and sharp criticies of woman. Biblical events are told in the style of french chansons de geste. This is an edition of the texts of two manuscripts belonging to two different families, shown an apposite pages : the british library ms egerton 2710 and the bibliotheque nationale ms fonda francais 902.

Le poeme anglo-normand sur l'ancien testament a ete compose a la fin du douzieme ou au debut de treizieme siecle. L'auteur, reste anonyme, a travaille a partir de la vulgate et surtout des antiquites judaiques de flavius josephe. La traduction s'accompagne de nombreuses reflexions morales et de critiques tres vives des femmes. Les histoires bibliques sont racontees dans le style de la chanson de geste. L'edition, sympathique, confronte le texte de deux manuscrits appartenant a deux familles differentes : le manuscrit egerton 2710 de la british library et le manuscrit bibliotheque nationale, fonda francais 902.
