This study accounts for the vili socio-cultural reality through proverbs. After the presentation of oral literature, including the definition of ngana "proverb" and its cultural functions, a logico-structural and stylistic analysis is presented. Finally, the proverb has been approached from a semantic point of view. This part concerns the origin, the contextual situation of emission and the general meaning of proverb. At this stage also, the conception of world, the know-how and the thought of the vili universe become clear. The approach applied is to bring in proeminent position the structures of society from the language.

Dans cette etude, un regard est porte sur la realite socio-culturelle vili a travers les proverbes. Apres avoir presente le peuple vili, les differents genres litteraires oraux, dont le ngana "proverbe", sa definition et ses fonctions culturelles, une analyse logico-formelle et stylistique y est effectuee. En dernier ressort, le proverbe a ete aborde d'un point de vue semantique. A ce niveau, l'etude se focalise sur l'origine, la situation contextuelle d'emission et le sens general du proverbe. C'est ici cependant que transparaissent la vision du monde, le savoir-faire, le mode de pensee du peuple vili. L'approche envisagee ayant pour finalite de mettre en evidence les structures de la societe a partir de la langue.
