The life of rene guy cadou, his friend's and critic's opinions don't allow to draw the portrait of the believer he might have been nor to made his relationship to religion or to faith clear. Explaining his relationship to god, to christ, to bible through his poetry leeds to such ambiguities. To get closer to the crual image of god, cadou dares depict him though incongruous images : far away shades, judge, ridiculous fellow, suffering flesh. The bible undergoes a similar disconcerting metamorphosis. Such an approach hardly ever, constrated or linear shows various feelings : his mack of unterstanding, his revolt, his complicity and sometimes his gratitude. Surrounded by death and pain, cadou hardly manage s accept his condition of leftappart man. This both feelings : derision and tenderness, may lead to a fragile balance. Paradoxically this quest has led him to search in a different way : earth, every life. Without necessarily deviating fro m sky or christian spirit, the poet decides to celebrate a suffering univers : that of animal and vegetal life, disabili ty, unsteady time. This new glance of a split world reveals a divibility he didn't manage to reach before. At last, unable to rise in a set sky, to assimilitate an abstract horizon, the poet has wholy assented to his love for all living being. In his work, the permanent blending of nobleness and triviality, the inclusion of every semantic field have led him to recreating. The final part of his work, mainly influenced by helene's regenerating presence shows that his divine breath has grown mature. This second spring opens the world upon every metamorphosis. The poete's speech bears this quest of the divine, these ways to hereafter : it is absolute.

La vie du poete rene guy cadou, les jugements de ses amis, des critiques, ne permettent pas d'esquisser la figure du croyant qu'il put etre, de clarifier sa relation a la religion, a la foi. Eclairer dans son oeuvre poetique ses rapports a dieu, au christ, au texte aboutit a de semblables ambiguites. Cadou pour se rapprocher de la figure cruelle de dieu, n'hesite pas a le representer sous des visages incongrus : ombre lointaine, juge, compagnon derisoire, chair souffrante. . . La bible subit les memes metamorphoses deconcertantes. Une telle demarche, rarement tranchee ou lineaire, temoigne de sentiments multiples : incomprehension, revolte, complicite, reconnaissance parfois. Encercle par la mort, la souffrance, cadou ne parvient jam ais tout a fait a accepter sa condition d'homme abandonne. L'amalgame de deux registres, la derision et la tendresse, permet peut-etre d'acceder a un equilibre fragile. Paradoxalement une telle quete le conduit a creuser dans une autre direction : la terre, le quotidien. Sans forcement s'eloigner du ciel ou de l'esprit chretien, le poete choisit de celebrer un univers souffrant : celui de l'animal, du vegetal, de l'infirme, de la minute tremblante. Ce nouveau regard pose sur un monde fissure devoile cette divinite jusque-la inaccessible. A ce moment precis, dieu semble se rapprocher et benir le poeme incapable finalement de s'elever dans un ciel fige, d'assimiler un horizon abstrait, le poete a acquiesce sans aucune reserve a son amour pour tout etre vivant. L'alliage permanent chez lui du noble et du derisoire, l'embrassement de tous les champs lexicaux l'ont guide vers une recreation. La derniere partie de son oeuvre, impulsee par la presence regeneratrice d'helene, temoigne d'une maturation , de l'expansion de ce souffle divin. Ce second printemps ouvre l'univers a toutes les metamorphoses. La parole du poete recele precisement cette quete du divin, ces passages vers l'au-dela : elle est absolu.
