Henri Pollès was born in 1909 in Tréguier, a small town of 3500 inhabitants, situated on the north coast of Brittany, and it is in his native town that the author has set the action of his two novels: Sophie de Tréguier (published in 1932) deals with Tréguier at the end of the 19 century and Sur le fleuve de sang vient parfois un beau navire (1982) with the second world war as a background to the story. The study consists in showing, on one hand, that the writer has respected the geographical, historical, sociological, moral and linguistic reality in his two novels, revealing himself as a keen and faithful observer of his native country. On the other hand, through the sociological importance given to the feminine world, the investigations have lead to emphasize the part played by the forces of dream, the part of expectation in the heroin's lives, of the great feeling of love which will sublimate all the forces of the good, the beautiful, the pure, tending endlessly to the ideal which is the great myth par excellence, all wrapped in a breton atmosphere and hourished with ancient "trégoroises" and celtic influences. Finally through this celtic dimension the study of the two novels has tried. . . .

Henri Pollès, né en 1909 à Tréguier, petite cité de 3500 habitants, située sur la côte nord de la Bretagne, a fixé dans cette ville au passé chargé d'histoire, le cadre de deux de ses romans: Sophie de Treguier, publié en 1932 et Sur le fleuve de sang vient parfois un beau navire, édité en 1982, et dont l'action se situe pour l'un, à la fin du dix neuvième siècle et pour l'autre, au debut du vingtième siècle, au moment de la première guerre mondiale. Le travail entrepris a consisté à montrer, dans un premier temps, que dans ses deux romans trégorois, l'écrivain avait respecté la réalité la plus large, à savoir: géographique, historique, sociologique, morale et linguistique, marquant ainsi un sens aigu de l'observation et une grande fidélité à l'égard de sa province natale. Dans une deuxième temps, a travers la prééminence accordée sociologiquement au monde féminin, la recherche s'est efforcée de souligner le rôle fondamental joué par les forces du rêve, dans l'attente chez les héroïnes du grand sentiment de l'amour qui sublimera à lui seul, toutes les forces du bien, du beau, du pur, pour sans cesse aller à l'idéal, le grand mythe par excellence; tout ceci dans une atmosphère toujours baignée par la matière bretonne et nourrie des reminiscences tregoroises et celtiques les plus larges.
