The thesis which deals with stendhal has its starting point in a question inherited from freud : how comes that the artist has a privileged access to the unconscious ? in other terms : why do some work of art reveal unconscious wishes and conflicts which are inaccessible to the non artist. This question which has been studied on the basis of analysis of the stendhalien texts, has constitued the objet of; theoretical development having as its pricipal source in the theory of jean laplanche. It is through the confrontation of the literary works of stendhal and psychoanalysis that the conclusions of the thesis has been established. The thesis tries to show how, in the case of stendhal, the symbolization contemporary of th( literary creation has proceeded as the work of mourning : it has had its origin in the attempt to translate the enigmatic message of the lost objet (the message invested by the unconscious sexuality of the "messenger"). However this symbolization also has another characteristic : it creates new symbolic representations of unconscious wishes that the work of mourning usually tends to repress in other terms: by stendhal the literary creation has revealed unconscious wiches ans conflicts which are inaccessible to the non artist. The reason is that the creation has been realized through the transferentiel relation to the unknown readers. Consequently this thesis has tried to articulate the relation between the literary creation and the address to these readers : the address in the form of literary creation has been provoked by the enigmatic readers of the future. La these, consacree a stendhal, prend pour point de depart une question heritee de freud : comment se fait-il que l'artiste ait un acces privilegie a l'inconscient ? autrement dit, pourquoi certaines oeuvre portent-elles a jour des souhaits et des conflits inconscients qui sont inaccessibles au non artiste cette question, qui a ete etudiee a partir de l'analyse des textes stendhaliens, a fait l'enjeu d'un developpement theorique dont la theorie de jean laplanche est la source principale. C'est a travers une confrontation entre l'oeuvre litteraire de stendhal et la psychanalyse que les conclusions de la these ont ete etablies. La these cherche a montrer comment, dans le cas de stendhal, la symbolisation contemporaine de 1 creation litteraire a procede comme un travail de deuil : elle a ete ancree dans la tentative pour traduire le message enigmatique de l'objet perdu (message investi par la sexualite inconsciente du "messager"). Or, cette symbolisation se caracterise en meme temps par ceci : elle cree de nouvelles representations symboliques des souhaits inconscients que le travail de deuil tend habituellement i refouler. Autrement dit, chez stendhal la creation litteraire a porte a jour des souhaits et des conflit; inconscients inaccessibles au non artiste. La raison en est que la creation s'est realisee a travers la relation transferentielle aux lecteurs inconnus. Aussi cette these s'est-elle efforcee d'articuler le lier entre la creation et l'adresse : l'adresse, sous forme de creation litteraire, a ete provoquee par les lecteurs enigmatiques du futur. Ces derniers ont constitue le mobile premier de la creation litteraire chez stendhal.
