Abstract EN:

This thesis is an attempt to study the literary work of louis guilloux emphasising, on the one hand, his affirmation "we do not write to tell, but to hide", and on the other hand, his relation ship coloured with guilt towards his father and intellectual leaders. But, if the fatherly image succeeds in generating the "tell" of the work at the beginning until its fatalistic crisis, we realise at the same time the the "hide" possesses at its turn, the power which other intellectual leaders of the spiritual register endow to. Going back to the sources of the literary work, we have tried to distingish the forms from the content of this hidden message. We also insist both on the study of the author's personnal testimony and his itinerary, as they are revealed by his non-literary texts. Therefore, this research has allowed the reconsideration of a writer's image, who was essentially perceived trough the conformity of his literary production with traditional engagement due to his populars origines, following his father's socialism, reveals himself to be the depositary and the illustrator of

Cette these se propose d'etudier l'oeuvre litteraire de louis guilloux en s'appuyant, d'une part, sur son affirmation "qu'on n'ecrit pas pour dire, mais pour cacher", et d'autre part sur son rapport entache de culpabilite au pere et aux maitres a penser. Car, si l'image paternelle parvient a feconder le "dire" de l'oeuvre a l'origine, et ce jusqu'a sa mise en crise inevitable, nous devons constater que le "cacher" possede quant a lui la force que lui conferent d'autres maitres dans le registre du spirituel. En remontant aux sources de l'oeuvre, nous avons tente de discerner les formes et le contenu de ce message dissimule, nous appuyant en parallele sur l'etude des temoignages et de l'itineraire personnels de l'auteur tels que nous les revelent ses textes non litteraires. Recherches qui ont permis la reconsideration de l'image d'un ecrivain qui, essentiellement percu a travers la conformite de sa production litteraire avec la tradition d'engagement propre a ses origines populaires, sur le modele du socialisme paternel, ne s'en revelait pas moins le depositaire et l'illustrateur d'une pensee chretienne d'influence augustinienne et pascalienne, generatrice de cette ecriture de l'amgiguite que
