De l'enfant au sujet : langage et cause en psychanalyse

The thesis includes several studies, all of then centred essentially on the theme of the subject and of his causality. The answer to this main question on freud's psychoanlysis and lacan elaboration of the category of subject. Its purpose is to show that the subject is primarily determined by language and, more precisely, by signifiers which alienate and divide him. However, it would be wrong to reduce the subject to this signifying causality without bringing out a causality by the object which is of another order. This theoretical position is upheld by empirical studies carried out in three-apparenthy disconnected fiels but in fact united by a common problematic : language formation in the child, the position of the child in the family as subjected to his mother's desire, and the analysis of autobiographical experiences about the "limit" (selected from the wrintings of such mystics as hadewijch of antwerp and saint john of the cross), which bring the subject to a point where the other is non longer either a support or a reference for him.

La these reunit un ensemble de travaux dont l'axe essentiel concerne la question du sujet et de sa causalite. La reponse a cette question principale trouve son orientation dans la psychanalyse freudienne et dans l'elaboration proposee par lacan de la categorie de sujet. Elle tend a soutenir que le sujet est d'abord determine par le langage et plus precisement par les signifiants qui alienent le sujet et le divisent. Reduire le sujet a cette causalite signifiante serait, cependant, injuste sans la mise en evidence d'une causalite par l'objet d'un autre ordre que la premiere. Cette prise de position theorique est alimentee par des travauc empiriques effectues dans trois champs apparemment disjoints mais qui trouvent leur unite au regard de notre problematique : la formation du langage chez l'enfant, la position de l'enfant dans la famille en tant qu'il est assujetti au desir maternel, l'analyse d'experiences autobiographiques "de la limite" (prelevees surtout dans les ecrits des mystiques hadewijch d'anvers et saint jean de la croix) qui confrontent le sujet a un point ou l'autre ne le garanhtit plus.
