This ph. D. Dissertation deals with the writing, the history and the images of the french-speaking west african novel from 1975 to 1995 in the different countries covered by our study. We present an in-depth analysis of the works of west african novelists (both male and female) and we study the evolution of the historical conditions, the literary techniques, the use of the language. We also investigate the novelists' involvement in generation movements and their sociopolitical images as well as their strategies to achieve efficiency in the process of enforcing a contemporary african fiction.

Ce travail vise essentiellement a faire le point sur trois plans : ecriture, histoire et images du roman negro-africain d'expression francaise depuis les annees 1975 jusqu'a 1995 dans les differents pays concernes par l'etendue de l'etude. Ainsi sa triple articulation, a travers les differents facteurs favorables ou non, a travers les analyses de pres des textes des ecrivains, romanciers- romancieres de divers horizons de cette aire geographique (9 pays) cherche a faire ressortir l'evolution des conditions historiques de production des romans, de leurs moyens litteraires (raconter des histoires) et les pratiques des ecrivains dans leurs mouvements de generations les uns par rapport aux autres (romanciers/romancieres/textes) et ensuite leurs images socio- politiques avec leurs ressorts et types, types d'images, leurs strategies d'efficacite polemique, socio-politique dans la mise en oeuvre d'un imaginaire litteraire africain contemporain (3e partie).
