Analyzing a corpus of interrogatives classes drawn from contemporary German literature, I study the linguistic procedure and inferences which lead to various interpretations of questions. The interpretation given to a question derives from the presence and the configuration of clues (verb in first, second or last position, interrogative-words in w- and illocutionary particles, modals, question-tags. . ), which acquire their meaning in a certain con-cotext (relation with the information coming before or after the question). A distinction of the following is made (dialogical situation): 1) questions that express a cognitive deficit (request of information, confirmation infirmation), 2) questions that lead to a request of action (polite request, offering. . . ), 3) questions asked when actually no question is needed (rhetorical question). The allocution dimension is constantly present in this research study in relation with the meaning to question.

A partir d'un corpus d'énoncés interrogatifs tirés de la littérature allemande contemporaine, sont étudiés les procédés linguistiques et les processus inférentiels qui mènent à diverses interprétations du questionnement. L'interprétation découle de la présence et des configurations d'indices (verbes en 1ere, 2eme ou dernière position, mot interrogatif en w- et particules illocutoires, modalisateurs, queues de question. . . ) qui prennent leurs sens dans un certain con-cotexte (rapport à l'amont et à l'aval de la question). Sont distinguées (situation dialogiques) : 1) les questions extériorisant un déficit cognitif (demande de renseignement de confirmation infirmation); 2) les questions produisant l'effet de sens d'une demande d'agir (requête, offre,. . . ); 3) les questions posées alors qu'aucune question ne se pose (question rhétorique). La dimension de l'allocution traverse toute la recherche sur le sens. . . . . . De l’interrogation.
