La mode comme expression du sacré dans l'oeuvre de Marcel Proust

Traditional criticism excludes social signs from signs of art in proust's work. In fact it appears that the writing of fashion, sign of the world in the expression of what is ephemeral and fashionable, sign of times, could be linked to the sacred, thus becoming a sign of art. The writing of fashion - in its widest meaning - lies within an attempt to drag the work from the profane discontinuity. Knowing that choosing duration, eternity is a deathly mistake for the writer, marcel proust chooses a present living in the relation to the other, to the time of the other. And this is in this relation and not in the loneliness of the self that the infinite of the sacred opens up. Convinced that what lives, dies, the writer chooses the aestheticism of the moment. Thus social signs are parts of the signs of arts: the material of fashion being a privileged means of telling the time being, his writing is the salvation of the present which thus eludes from the temps perdu. Rejecting an everlasting present for a renewed present, the writing of fashion while saying appearance, leads to the being. The aestheticism is the one of the present moment held in the present regarded as sacred of the work of art.

La critique traditionnelle exclut les signes mondains des signes de l7art dans l'oeuvre de marcel proust. Or il apparait que l'ecriture de mode, signe du monde dans l'expression de ce qui est ephemere et mondain, signe des temps, puisse etre reliee au sacre, devenant ainsi signe de l'art. L'ecriture de mode - au sens le plus large de ce mot - s'inscrit dans une tentative pour arracher l'oeuvre a la discontinuite profane. Sachant que choisir la duree, l'eternite, est une erreur fatale a l'ecrivain, marcel proust choisit un present vivant dans le rapport a l'autre, au temps de l'autre. Et c'est dans ce rapport que s'ouvre l'infini du sacre, non pas dans la solitude du moi. Certain que ce qui dure meurt, l'ecrivain choisit l'esthetique de l'instant. Ainsi les signes mondains sont partie integrante des signes de l'art : le materiau de mode etant un moyen privilegie de dire le present, son ecriture est le salut du present qui echappe ainsi au "temps perdu". Refusant l'eternel present pour le present eternel, l'ecriture de mode, en disant le paraitre, conduit a l'etre. L'esthetique est celle de l'instant maintenu dans le present sacralise de l'oeuvre d'art.
