Jugoslavia is a country with great social and linguistic complexity, and intricate history. Literature has to be translated as a work of art, not as a source of information, and translating must first of all take into account the artistic structures of the works.

La grande complexite sociale et linguistique de la yougoslavie, ainsi que son histoire obscure, font que les oeuvres litteraires, si l'on veut les traduire comme telles, doivent faire l'objet d'un choix preferentiel tenant compte par priorite de leurs structures specifiques d'oeuvres d'art.
