Abstract EN:

Neither the traditional grammar nor the arabic linguistic manage to isolate the syntactic function so-called: predicate. The constructional and relational definition we have proposed accounts for the basically syntactic nature of this function by distinguishing the different levels of the linguistic analysis. So, a sentence is defined as predicative or not according as it represente an exocentric or endocentric construction. The normal syntagmatic order makes the sentence an exocentric construction analysis by means of such concepts as subject and predicate. On the other hand, the modified or inverted one makes it an endocentric construction subsumng an extraposition and a proposition.

Abstract FR:

Ni la grammaire traditionnelle ni la linguistique arabe n'ont pu degager la fonction syntaxique proprement dite de predicat. La definition constructionnelle et relationnelle que nous avons propose prend en consideration la nature fondamentalement syntaxique de cette fonction en distinguant les differents niveaux de l'analyse linguistique. L'enonce est defini comme predicatif ou non selon qu'il represente une construction exocentrique ou endocentrique. L'ordre syntagmatique normal fait de l'enonce une construction exocentrique analysable au moyen des concepts: sujet et predicat. Par contre, l'ordre syntagmatique modifie ou inverse fait de lui une construction endocentrique contenant une extraposition et une proposition.
