The goal of this dissertation is to study the ways economics terms are defined in economics school readers for the baccdalaureat b (economics). The first chapter deals with the choice of economics school readers, with the selection of a limited corpus, taking into account the instructions on methodology, the reference tools conceming economics and human sciences put at the disposal of grammar school students, as well as the specific methodology at work throughout the dissertation. The second chapter deals with the lay out and the contents of the readers, develops etymological roots and presents the historical backgrounds of economics and the origins of its particular terms. The third chapter attemps to clarify the different aspects of the dictionnary definition relating to the chosen corpus. Denominations are classed grammatically and morphologically and one particular study deals with signs and acronyms. The study of etymologies, foreign roots, official recommandations, relating to the words of the corpus are presented. Then a theoretical distinction is made between "word definition" and" object definition". Common groups are limited on the basis of statistics and their recurrence. The typology of dictionnary definitions reveals two primay categories (lexical ones and didactic ones) and five kinds of dictionnary definitions in the corpus. Finally, the metalanguage at work, classed according to the subject matter and their sub headings is defined before preceeding to the statistical data which will clarify the various levels of understanding of terms which are needed in order to fully comprehend a definition. The last section draws conclusions and attempts to prove the effenciency of the glossaries which are to be found in economics and human sciences school readers.

Cette these a pour but d'etudier la maniere dont les termes d'economie sont definis, dans les manuels d'economie, au baccalaureat b. Le premier chapitre est consacre aux choix des manuels d'economie, a la selection des termes du corpus de base, aux instructions officielles, aux outils de reference relatifs aux termes d'economie et de sciences sociales mis a la disposition des lyceens, ainsi qu'a la methode d'analyse particuliere mise en oeuvre dans cette etude. Le second chapitre traite de la definition et de la conception des manuels, et presente des notions etymologiques et un rappel historique sur l'economie et sur les origines d'une terminologie economique. Le troisieme chapitre porte sur les differents aspects de la definition des termes du corpus retenu. Les denominations sont classees morphologiquement et grammaticalement et une etude particuliere traite des sigles et des acronymes. L'etude des etymologies, les origines etrangeres, les recommandations officielles relatives aux termes du corpus, y sont livrees. Ensuite, sont distinguees: la "definition de mot" et la "definition de chose". Les genres communs sont circonscrits a partir des statistiques et des recurrences. La typologie des definitions fait apparaitre deux categories (definition lexicographique et definition didactique) et cinq types de definitions du corpus. Enfin, la metalangue utilisee, classe par disciplines, est definie, avant de donner lieu aux statistiques permettent de degager les differents niveaux de comprehension des termes definitoires necessaires a connaitre pour comprendre une definition. La conclusion dreese le bilan general et tend a prouver l'efficacite des lexiques figurant dans les manuels d'economie et de sciences sociales.
