Abstract EN:

This thesis proposes a morphologic, semantic and syntaxic study of compound nouns including a color term in french. This study aims at understanding the functioning of these formations very numerous in French and finding the definitional criteria delimiting these nouns that have very varied structures such as ours blanc, feu rouge, travail au noir or vert-galant. By using a rich corpus containing more than 7000 forms, we undertook a systematic analyze of the phenomenon in order to give an overview of the creation process implemented. This work therefore provides numerous justifications for the substantial use of these locutions and for the dominant position of the color terms in the compounding. Finally, a classification considering the heterogeneity of the structures and of the formation process of the compound nouns including a color term reveals the wealth of the french combinatory.

Cette thèse propose une étude morphologique, sémantique et syntaxique des noms composés incluant un terme de couleur en français. Il s’agit de comprendre le fonctionnement de ces formations toujours plus nombreuses dans la langue, de trouver des critères définitoires susceptibles de circonscrire des constructions aux structures très diverses telles que ours blanc, feu rouge, travail au noir ou vert-galant. En nous appuyant sur un corpus riche comprenant plus de 7000 formes, il a été possible d'effectuer une analyse systématique du phénomène offrant ainsi une vision globale des processus de création mis en oeuvre. Ce travail fournit, par conséquent, de nombreux éléments permettant de justifier l'utilisation massive de ces locutions et d'expliquer la place prépondérante qu'ont acquis les termes de couleur au sein de la composition. Enfin, une classification prenant en considération l'hétérogénéité des structures et des processus de formation des noms composés incluant un terme de couleur met au jour la richesse de la combinatoire française.
