The study of the child in francophone moroccan novels brings out the distinctive nature of this literary movement. The character, strougle autobiographical, entails an unconcious projection both individual and collective which allows the probing into the cultural mind. The portrayal of the close relationship between mother and child betrays the underlying aim of the novel writing : the quest of the origin. That of the ambiguous relationship between father and child discloses an immanent theory of the literary medium. A special form of childhood symbolism arouses from the original interaction between the traditional arabic heritage and contemporary western influence.

L'etude de l'enfant dans les romans marocains d'expression francaise revele la nature specifique de ce courant litteraire. Le personnage, a tres nette dominante autobiographique, suscite un effet de projection inconscient a la fois individuel et collectif qui permet une plongee dans l'imaginaire culturel. La mise en scene des rapports privilegies a la mere decouvre le projet sous-jacent de la representation romanesque : la quete de l'origine. Celle des rapports ambigus au pere, une theorie du signe litteraire. Une symbolique propre a l'enfance nait de l'articulation originale entre l'heritage traditionnel arabe et l'influence contemporaine occidentale.
