Abstract EN:

The "literary" ballad, its nature, its history, have hardly hold the french comparatists attention up to now. This genre, however, owing to the various and very peculiar problems it involves, and to its amazing vitality, seems to be a highly interesting matter for the comparative research. The "literary" ballads composed by the hungarian poet janos arany, became so famouys in his country that the hungarian critics called him very early "the master of the genre". This very fact, the time (1847-1877), and the place (hungary may be defined as a cultural cress-roed in europe), bring one to think that his masterpieces might be described and analysed as a starting point for a future comparative history of the genre.
