Pour une poétique de la responsabilité : l'oeuvre poétique de Seamus Heaney

This work is an attempt to examine the way in which the notion of responsibility has been a key factor in the development of the work of Seamus Heaney. Our work takes as its starting point a broad definition of the term poetics, which beyond prosody also includes the interaction between the imagination and the different forms of representation used by the poet. This is allied ot a defintion of the notion of responsibility based on the work of the phlosophers Emmanuel Levinas, Jacques Derrida and Jan Patocka. Heaney's work is then examined in a chronological fashion and we trace the development of the notion through various stages. The first stage is that of community responsibility where the poet recreates the world of his childhood in poems which, on the whole, are apolitical. We do note the underlying tension that comes to the fore in certain poems, which are more politically engaged. . .

Ce travail tente de montrer l'importance de la responsabilité comme facteur déterminant dans l'oeuvre de Seamus Heaney. A partir d'une définition de la poétique comprise au sens large (les préoccupations prosodiques et l'interaction entre l'imaginaire et les différentes formes de représentation employées par le poète) et d'une notion de la responsabilité qui s'inspire des travaux d'Emmanuel Levinas, Jacques Derrida et Jan Patocka, nous traçons de manière chronologique l'évolution de cette notion dans la poésie de Seamus Heaney. Nous marquons d'abord le temps de la responsabilité communautaire où le poète recrée le monde de son enfance dans une poésie qui est dans l'ensemble apolitique mais qui révèle néanmoins certaines tensions cachées qui surgissent dans certains poèmes au caractère plus engagés. . .
