Abstract EN:
The phenomenon of dandyism in xixth-century england and france has been studied along four main axes, so as to draw the most precise idea of its inner reality. In the first place, is scrutinized the way in which the dandy provides an interpretation to the eseence of man's presence in the world: an "eye l" bound to run away in front of reality, finding a basis in his relationship to the father figure. In the second place, the dandy is seen in his connexions with men insomuch as they constitute a community: he rejects the bourgeoisie but he must often submit to its laws in case he fails to lead the social game. Then, the study bears on the possible emergence of the dandy-writer, a two-fold figure which is not as unlikely as it seems. A typical style would be one of his marked distinctive features, a style of which only a few inklings are given, but to which an analysis of the concept of game adds valuable insight. Finally, this work closes up with the study of the potential creation of a myth of the dandy. This could be an attempt to bring back the feeling of sacredness to the xixth-century social scene.
