The poetry of Edouard Maunick is a wrinting of exile. It is presented in the form of a permanent escape of an exiguous place, the native island, towards one dreamed elsewhere which could withdraw it torture of a space insulating and including. However, the selected destination changes in its turn into a ground of exile by the fact of a strong nostalgia of the place of origin. The island becomes, in fact, an obsession. It directs the perception of the writer and lends itself on all the subjects tackled in different the books. Indeed, any share of the island and returns there. However, this second island is an exorcized space, a mental geography disencumbered of alienating borders of the objective island. That translated a phobia of the borders at Maunick. The combat against the limits of space is prolonged in a search of the eternity which thus meets a need to abolish the borders of time.

La poésie d'Edouard Maunick est une écriture de l'exil. Elle se présente comme une fuite permanente d'un lieu exigu, l'île natale, vers un "ailleurs" rêvé qui pourrait le soustraire de la torture d'un espace isolant et englobant. Cependant, la destination choisie se transforme à son tour en une terre d'exil par le fait d'une forte nostalgie du lieu d'origine. L'île devient, de fait, une hantise. Elle oriente la perception de l'écrivain et se prête à tous les sujets abordés dans les différentes oeuvres. En effet, tout part de l'île et y revient. Toutefois, cette seconde île est un espace exorcisé, une géographie mentale débarrassée de frontières aliénantes de l'île objective. Cela traduit une phobie des frontières chez Maunick. Le combat contre les limites de l'espace se prolonge dans une quête de l'éternité qui répond ainsi à un besoin d'abolir les frontières du temps.
