Abstract EN:

Confronted with badly dated and injustly neglected documents, the author decided to comment upon them, in order to define their specificity. He was led to date "the presbeuticos" and the "epibomios" at 310-308, "letters" i-ix and the "dogma" around 40 bc, "the vita ex sorano" circa 200 ad, the "bribes de stobee" about hippocrates at 405, the kos article of stephanus byzantinus circa 536, "the vita bruxellensis" circa 600, the "hippocrate ii" article of la souda at 971, and the lines of tzetzes concerning hippocrates at 1160. The chronology of these texts provided him with a clear notion of the process of alteration of the image of the historical hippocrates, a great doctor of the 5th century at the beginning, a god of medicine at the end. These commentaries (eleven, including arab texts of the years 850 to 1250) fill up 1600 pages out of a total of 2466. They are followed by a final synthesis of 502 pages, with a synthetic structure (the main point is a "chronologia hippocratis" from 472 to 387). After the text, there are 253 additionel pages (a bibliographical index, an alphabetical list of author quoted, an alalytical table of contents and a table of illustrations). Volume iii ends with lxxxviii line-work illustrations.
