The five "minor periodicals" presented here are characteristic of the artistic life that had developed on the fringes of the formal French culture by the end of the 19th century. That unconventional journalism (1878-1889) acknowledged the condition of the bohemian artist as well as his cavalier attitude. The first part of this doctoral thesis describes these periodicals, their contents, their history and their contributors. In the second and third parts, the notion of "bohemian spirit" is discussed in a multi-topical approach. Such anti-conformist magazines, combining a wish to shock and a craving for acceptance by the artists and literati of the time, confirm Jerrold Seigel's theorie concerning literary life. Using the notions of strategy and of awareness of literary sphere, the fourth part analyses the machinery of an avant-garde press yearning for legitimacy. Finally the fifth part presents the leaders of a forgotten brotherhood : the "bohemian smugglers".

A la fin du XIXe siècle, une vie artistique s'était créée en marge d'une culture officielle. Ce journalisme marginal révéla aussi bien le statut de l'artiste bohème qu'un état d'esprit fumiste. La première partie décrit précisément les petites revues, leurs rubriques, leur historique et leurs collaborateurs. Une approche thématique vient compléter cette étude à l'occasion d'une deuxième et troisième parties dont l'obectif est de commenter la notion d'"esprit bohème". Cette presse anticonformiste, qui se distingue aussi bien par son goût de la provocation que par son désir d'intégration dans la société des arts et des lettres, vient confirmer la thèse de Jerrold Seigel sur la vie littéraire. S'appuyant sur les notions de stratégie, de prise de conscience du champ littéraire, cette thèse analyse dans une quatrième partie, les rouages d'une presse d'avant-garde dont l'ambition est de parvenir à la reconnaissance. Enfin, la cinquième partie présente les chefs de file d'une confrérie oubliée : la "bohème des contrebandiers".
