In dealing with our thesis : the theorie of virtues in the philosophical work of cicero, we had the intention to show the ciceronian conception of moral practices and to emphasize its originality. For that we have studied the concept of virtue : in the first part, through its general sense and their approaches with philosophy. In the second part, through their particular expressions : the prudentia, the iustitia, the fortitudo and the temperantia. Our purpose has then been to analyse the conrete requirements of these virtues in order to show the role of man in the city or in general. In dealing with this theme, we have tried to show that cicero was a philosopher and that his theory of virtues in an exemple of humanism.

En traitant notre sujet de these : la theorie des vertus dans l'oeuvre philosophique de ciceron, nous avions l'intention de mettre en valeur la conception ciceronienne de la morala pratique et d'en souligner l'originalite. Pour cela, nous avons etudie le concept de vertu : dans une premiere partie, a travers son sens general et ses rapports avec la philosophie. Dans une deuxieme partie, a travers ses manifestations particulieres : la prudnce, la justice, le courage, la temperance. Notre propos a alors ete d'analyser les exigences concretes de ces vertus afin de mettre en valeur le role du citoyen et de l'homme en general face a la vie. Tout au long de ce travail, nous avons tente de montrer que ciceron fut un philosophe et que la theorie des vertus est un exemple d'humanisme.
