The relationship between morocco and the united states dates back to the period of american independence, the end of the eighteen century. Morocco was one of the first countries to conclude a friendship, navigation and trading treaty signed on june 23rd, 1786. This treaty renewed in 1836 is still in force. Over two centuries, the american-moroccan relationship has developed, has become stronger and has diversified particularly in political, economical and cultural fields. Today there is a real american cultural presence in morocco. How and in what conditions did the american cultural presence appear in morocco? what was its impact on the moroccan society? what is today's situation and what is the future of this cultural presence? this study will try to determine the degree of influence of the different american cultural organizations and associations and to analyse the means used to reinforce this influence, especially during the period of 1967 to 1982 while at the same time trying to contemplate the future.

Les contacts entre le maroc et les etats-unis remontent a l'independance de ces derniers, a la fin du 18eme siecle. Le maroc fut un des premiers pays a conclure avec les etats-unis un traite d'amitie, de navigation et de commerce le 23 juin 1786. Ce traite fut renouvele en 1836 pour une duree indeterminee. En deux cents ans, les rapports americano-marocains ont evolue, se sont intensifies et diversifies sur les plans politique, economique et culturel pour arriver aujourd'hui a une reelle presence culturelle americaine au maroc. Comment et dans quelles conditions s'est manifestee la presence culturelle americaine au maroc? quel a ete son impact? quelle est la situation actuelle de cette presence et quel est son avenir? cette etude essaie de determiner le degre de l'influence des organismes et associations culturels americains implantes au maroc et d'analyser les moyens mis en oeuvre pour renforcer cette influence, surtout durant la periode qui va de 1967 a 1982, tout en essayant de se projeter vers l'avenir. 1967 represente la signature du premier accord culturel et 1982 la creation d'une commission americano-marocaine pour les echanges educatifs
