The object of the thesis is to study the nature and the rythm of the social integration of the polish immigrant population in saone-etloire between 1939 and 1980. The aim is to establish the extent to which and the ways in which this group of the population has been demographic profile ot the region, from the end of the nineteenth century up the eve of the second world-war. The second chapter retraces the history of the polish community in the department. With a detailed description of the elements contained in the census of 1945. Chapter three deals with the professional integration of this immigrant population through their evolution in the threee industries : mining, metallurgy and textiles. The fourth chapter studies the relationship between integration and the specific environment of immigrant housing areas. Chapter five, through the study of 1200 marriages over thrity years in montceau-les-mines, analyses the way in which polish immigrants have gradually integrated the french population. Last chapter is devoted to naturalisations. The study of the sum of these elements enables the identification of the different factors which have helped or hindered the integration of the immigrant polish community. The sources which have been employed are civil service records, census results, company archives and personal live-acounts.

Le but de cette these est d'etudier les caracteres et les rythmes de l'integration sociale des immigres polonais en saone-etloire entre 1939 et 1980. Il s'agit de preciser aussi dans quelle mesure et de quelle facon ce groupe de population a ete assimile. Le chapitre i fait le point sur le contexte socio-economique et demographique regional, de la fin du xixe siecle a la veille de la deuxieme guerre mondiale. Le chapitre ii retrace l'histoire de la communaute polonaise dans ce departement et en donne uen description detaillee d'apres le recensement de 1945. Le chapitre iii traite de l'integration professionnelle de cette population , en determinant son evolution au sein de trois industries : les mines, la metallurgie et le textile. Le chapitre suivant examine les liens entre l'integration et l'environnement particulier des cites d'immigres. A travers 1200 mariages a montceau-les-mines sur trente ans, le chapitre v etudie comment les polonais se sont peu a peu melanges a la population francaise. Le dernier chapitre est consacre aux naturalisations. L'ensemble de ces parametres permet de determiner les facteurs qui ont freine ou facilite l'integration de la communaute polonaise. L'ouvrage s'appuie sur les donnees d'etatcivil, les recensements, les fichiers d'entreprise et les recits de vie.
