L'oeuvre et la pensee de giovanni pirelli

After his participation as an officer of the italian army in world war ii, giovanni pirelli (1918-1973) becomes aware of the destructions brought about fascism and the attitude of the ruling class he belongs to. This new consciousness of the situation leads him to take part in the resistance movement and then to renounce his role as the manager designate of his father's company. At the end of the war, he dedicates himself to history, literature and publishing. In particular, he edits, with piero malvezzi, two collections of letters that resistance fighters sentenced to death wrote before they were shot. Besides his work as an historian, pirelli writes fiction about world war ii, the resistance movement and the industrial society. He also becomes a member of the socialist party and takes part in several theoretical reviews and publishing companies. Through a vast number of initiatives, he carries out a political, moral and literary research, reslated to the events and cultural problems of italy from the war to the beginning of the seventies.

La partici@atop, de giovanni pirelli (1918-1973) a la seconde guerre mondiale, sa prise de conscience des destructions engendrees par le facisme et la classe dirigeante a laquelle il appartient, vont entrainer son entree dans la resistance, puis le refus du role de futur dirigeant de l'entreprise paternelle qui lui etait reserve. Apres la guerre, il se consacre a l'histoire, a la litterature, au journalisme et a l'edition. Il est notamment l'auteur, avec piero malvezzi, de deux recueils importants de lettres de condamnes a mort de la resistance italienne et europeenne. Parallelement a ses travaux d'historien, pirelli ecrit une oeuvre narrative dont les principaux themes d'inspiration sont la guerre, la resistance, la societe industrielle. Par ailleurs, il milite au parti socialiste, collabore a plusieurs revues et maisons d'edition, qu'il finance en partie, poursuivant a travers une multitude d'initiatives, une recherche politique, morale, litteraire, en prise sur les evenements et les debats culturels italiens a partir de la guerre jusqu'au debut des annees soixante-dix.
