Romanzo nuovo, new novel, is a title encompassing all research into new novelistic forms. This title began to be used in the early 60s in Italian neo-avant-garde circles without becoming a label designating any specific school. The purpose of this study is first, to understand if there has been a true literary movement that would have paved the way for a radical change in literature, and thus for a romanzo nuovo; then, to analyse the novels and theories of the Italian neo-avant-garde novel; lastly; to examine the experimental novels of the past thirty years. In this way, we will evaluate some postulates of the neo-avant-garde : experimental literature has developed since the 60s thanks to the work of the writers and critics of the "Gruppo 63"; literary research has remained alive and active since the dissolution of the group, right up to the 90s; an unbroken line can be traced back through the literary research of these past thirty years.

Romanzo nuovo, roman nouveau, est une appellation englobant tous ceux qui cherchent de nouvelles formes romanesques, appellation qu'on commence à utiliser au début des années soixante dans le milieu de la néo-avant-garde italienne sans que cela devienne une étiquette désignant une école. Cette étude se propose de comprendre d'abord s'il y a eu un véritable mouvement d'avant-garde qui aurait posé les jalons pour un changement radical de la littérature, et donc pour un romanzo nuovo : d'analyse ensuite les romans et les théories du roman de la néo-avant-garde italienne : d'examiner également les romans expérimentaux de ces derniers trente ans. On vérifiera de cette manière certains postulats de la néo-avant-garde; à savoir : la littérature expérimentale s'est développée à partir des années soixante grâce au travail des écrivains et des critiques du "Gruppo 63"; la recherche littéraire reste vivante et active après la dissolution du groupe, et jusqu'aux années quatre-vingt-dix : on peut tracer une ligne de continuité dans la recherche littéraire de ces trente ans.
