This PHD deals with the political image of Brazil through both french and brazilian press from 1979 to 1992, period of transition from military rule to a democratic system. The chronological analysis presents general Geisel's government and it's first steps towards political normalisation, institutions (Church, army, party's), politicians, public opinion as well as the arrival of Tancredo Neves on the public scene. This study also deals with Sarney's government and economic plans, social difficulties, as well as the first direct and democratic elections in 1989. Fernando Collor, the winner and first civilian president in more than twenty years , was impeached in 1992 for corruption.

Cette thèse de doctorat traite de l' image politique du Brésil à travers la presse française et brésilienne de 1979 à 1992, période de transition entre un régime militaire et un régime démocratique. L' analyse chronologique présente le gouvernement Geisel et ses premiers pas vers la normalisation politique, puis les institutions (Eglise, armée, partis) , les hommes politiques, l' opinion publique et l' arrivée de Tancredo Neves sur la scène publique. Cette étude s'achève avec le gouvernement Sarney et ses problèmes de corruption, le tissu social en pleine décompostion et les premières élections directes au suffrage universel, dont le vainqueur Fernando Collor de Mello, nouveau président civil est destitué en 1992, deux ans à peine après son arrivée au pouvoir.
