Abstract EN:

This doctoral research aims to show, first of all, the different efforts made by the UAE for economic development as well as the investments made by the country in the different fields and the great efforts made to prepare for the post-oil period. Secondly, the thesis highlights the geopolitical stakes of the territorial litigation between the UAE and Iran, as well as the historical UAE membership of the three islands (Abu Moussa, the Great Tunb and the Small Tunb) and the peaceful Emirati attempts to settle this contingent. Thus, the research focus on the Iranian threat and its occupation of the three Emirati islands, and then look for common ground for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Throughout this work and with the aim of understanding the conflict, the economic and geostrategic importance of the three islands have been deepened.

Abstract FR:

Cette recherche doctorale a pour objectif de montrer, en premier lieu, les différents efforts réalisés par les Émirats arabes unis pour le développement économique ainsi que les investissements de ce pays dans les différents domaines et leurs grands efforts déployés pour la préparation à la période post-pétrole. Ensuite, la thèse met en lumière les enjeux géopolitiques du contentieux territorial entre les Émirats arabes unis et l’Iran, ainsi que l’appartenance historique émirienne des trois îles d’Abu Moussa, de la Grande Tombe et la Petite Tombe ainsi que les tentatives pacifiques émiraties pour régler ce contingent. Aussi, la recherche s’intéresse à la menace iranienne et à son occupation des trois îles émiraties, puis à la recherche d’un terrain d’entente pour un règlement pacifique du conflit. Tout au long de ce travail et dans un objectif de compréhension du différend, l’importance économique et géostratégique des trois îles ont été approfondies.
