Un pigment pour explorer le coloris : le safran dans l'art

The saffron commes from the flower of the Crocus sativus. Since four millennia, the saffron, as a spice and as a dye, is used in a multiplicity of human practices (pharmacopoeia, culinary art, textile and body dyeing, perfumery, painting, calligraphy, literature, etc. ) and in a multiplicity of relationships with the body (saffron to be seen, to be felt, to be eaten, to be touched). We study the practices and uses of saffron in two specific cultural fileds: French culture and Moroccan culture. Our research is based on the comparison of all the practices of saffron in order to study the productions and mediations of sense by the use of the same material. By studying saffron, we explore, from the "poïétique"point of view, the part material in the practice of the colour. This exploration allows us to study on one hand the elaboration of a material, and on the other hand the part of matrial in the poièsis of the artistic colour.

Issu de la fleur de Crocus sativus, le safran est une épice et un colorant inscrit depuis quatre millénaire dans une pluralité de pratiques humaines (pharmacopée, art culinaire, teinture textile et corporelle, parfumerie, peinture, calligraphie, littérature, tec. . ) et dans une pluralité des rapports au corps (safran vu, senti, avalé et touché). Nous étudions les pratiques et usages du safran dans deux champs culturels spécifiques: la culture française et la culture marocaine. Notre recherche se fonde sur la mise en relation des mises en terres, des mises en mots, des mises en bouches et des mises en oeuvre du safran afin d'étudier les productions et médiations de sens se développant à partir de l'utilisatiob d'un même matériau. Par l'étude du safran, nous explorons, dans une perspective poïétique, le rôle du matériau dans les pratqies de la couleur. Cette exploration permet d'interroger d'une part l'élaboration matérielle et sémantique d'un matériau dans une culture donnée, et d'autre part le rôle du matériau dans la poièsis du coloris artistique.
